Slowly beating myself

In a good way.

I set a goal for myself to beat my last solo run by 2 minutes. I wanted to run the 2.75 miles in 30 minutes (I know... sounds super slow, huh?).

Well, I did it and managed to beat that time by a minute and a half! I ran the route in 28 minutes 14 seconds.

I'm slowly getting there. Slowly. But surely.

Improvising

I was really itching to run today. The kids were driving me nuts (Addi was here) and I knew my crazy pill wasn't going to kick in before I lost my mind. So I decided to make do with what I had and threw on my running shoes, grabbed the iPod, the kids and BOBd.

I put the babies in the stroller and planned to let Porter run along with me. I'd go slow. Or he could stand on the bar and hang on.

Well, our neighbor ended up coming by and she and her son hung around and walked with us for a ways. I didn't have my Nike+ on during this time.

After they decided to turn around and head home I loaded Porter up (ghetto-style!) and started to run! We didn't make it far before Porter was whining that Addi was kicking him, Addi was whining and it was lunch time.

All in all the recorded walk/run was 1.2 miles and 17 minutes. EEK.

Another BOBd run

I took the boys and actually went slower than my previous run with BOBd. However... it was an extremely windy day and for half the route I was running into the wind. It was catching in the stroller and pushing towards me. That sucked.

I ran the 2.75 miles (well, Nike + said 2.82) in just under 41 minutes. Ouch!

Sunday Sunday

I've figured out my "route" is 2.76 miles. My goal is to work my way up to running the entire thing and then venture out and work my way up to 5 miles. I'll then probably rotate between the shorter (2.75 mile) run and a longer run a few days a week.

My last run on this route was with the BOB duallie (we'll call him BOBd) and it took me about 40 minutes. I went solo today and had a goal of trying to run/walk it in 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I got lazy around the lake and ended up 2 minutes over my time.

2.76 miles: 32 minutes

Family Run

Tonight Ryan joined me for a run. It was really nice to have company and someone to help push me to keep going. We ran up to Keicher Elementary (about 1.3 miles) and then back.

8 months come and gone

I ran again. I've ran ONCE since August. That is pathetic. But, with winter and cold and blah blah blah excuses, you know.

I bought a BOB dually jogging stroller off Craigslist. So far, its a BEAST. Huge. But it has like, shocks on it or something. Its made for off roading, not that I'll be doing any of that.

I took it out for a spin today with the boys. I'm kind of excited I can spend this time with them (although today I really tried to tune Porter out with the iPod). It'll come in handy in the summer even if its just going for long walks. A jogger is a zillion times nicer to push than any other type of stroller.

So... back to my workout. I am having issues with my Nike Plus (+) dealie ma bobber. I mapped my run (err... walk/jog) on MapMyRun and it is 2.6 miles. Nike + says I ran something like .77 miles. Anyhow... took me 39 minutes (ACK!). I'm so SO incredibly out of shape its not funny... and trying to coerce my out of shape, rubbery legs to push a 70lb+ load wasn't easy. I figured as long as I walked fast/alternated with a few spurts of jogging... its better than nothing. And, its a start.
